a (tentative) christmas wishlist

i wasn't going to, but prompts from relatives and friends have convinced me to come up with my own christmas wishlist as guidance for all of you who want to shower me with presents in the manner that i truly deserve. (hahahaha. its amazing how one free cut in admin can brighten one's mood and bring out the happy-happy-joy-joy in even the bitterest law victim). in all honesty, (a word professor disini does not want spoken before an answer - "you mean you weren't honest the first time?"), i really only want simple things. and some unattainable things that i don't expect anyone to give but that i've decided that i want anyway Ü

here they are:

t-shirt type pyjama bottoms and tank tops to match - surplus carries them! i really love them. promise. hehehe. and theyre considerably cheap.

gilmore girls and the oc videos. i saw them in metro walk and was salivating over them the whole time. marathon! hah. i love them. makes you feel happy-feely (gilmore girls) and hippy-cool (OC).

microwave popcorn! ( i am so addicted. hehehehe - especially to act II's limited feature: sweet corn on the cob. ang babaw ko talaga)

a nice dark denim jacket (not the 3/4 sleeved kind. the traditional waist-length, stiff-collared, button down ones.)

a black leather/pleather belt, the simplest kind. i like the thinner ones, with simple buckles.

a coffee and dessert date where we can catch up on how fabulous/disastrous the year has been for you

a decent blind date. hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha. (i cant believe i actually typed and published this)

an occasion/place to dress up for. (for the little camwhore in me)

the gift of experience (to anything. anything you think well both enjoy Ü)

a massage. a hair cut.

an overnight where we can take a walk at night, have hot cocoa, and roast marshmallows (i miss new york) - slashed only because zara already gave me the gift of experience. we went to the bellevue for a not-so-wholesome overnight. (no cocoa and marshmallows here - a bottle of chardonnay and a bottle of tequilla between the 2 of us midgets. in less than an hour. we toasted to everything but the batcave. hahaha. i remember being extremely giggly after that.)

vcd copies of missing friends episodes ( i have about everything save for about 3-4 discs)
season 1 vol. 1
season 1 vol. 5
season 3 vol. 3
the entire season 9. hehehe. kulang pa pala yun.

any cd you think i might enjoy. i love just about all kinds of music (to zara: except AEGIS and imelda papin. i get enough of that from our videoke nights) actually, an mp3 collection will work fine too. i love compilations of stuff.
any book you think i will enjoy. ive taken to rereading old svh, sweet dreams, svt, even (gasp!) unicorns books. to get away from it all. but i love just about anything readable (except law books and cases which i will never love. NEVER!!!!)

a brilliant opportunity. ive been painstakingly trying to start a business. any business. i have no idea how to! help!

hmm. these are all the things i can think of off the top of my head.

[editor's note] new additions as of december 19, 2005, 1:16pm:

the chronicles of narnia

the trilogy of griffin and sabine

a copy of the bbc's pride and prejudice

a phone call

see? nothing over the top right? mababaw naman ako. but anything you think i will like, i will like (hahahaha para itong ang quip ni ms medez: "what the law does not provide, IT DOES NOT PROVIDE." hahahahahahahaha)

have a nice holiday season everyone!

Credit where credit is due

As I am almost never one to open my presents on Christmas eve, I have already opened most of my presents. And though none of them are on my actual list, I am thrilled nonetheless! I got fabulous things!

Its amazing how well my friends know me, and what I would like. I really, really like what they gave me. Hehehe. May I gush?

The gift of fashion

My blockmates were really sweet to give lovely, lovely presents that I cannot wait to use.

Jok, wrote the sweetest note on hers: thanks for being a sight for sore eyes all year long. The note accompanied these really nice lavender capiz dangling earrings.

Jona gave a bead bracelet done in my actual favorite colors! Green and pink! With hearts! Happy happy happy.

Leah gave me a green and gold shawl that I just want to wear right away. As in right now. Somewhere deep in my mind I am longing for there to be school already so I can have an excuse to wear it. But the desire is buried very, very, very deep in my mind.

Nikki and Gerard gave me a skirt! I love skirts! I love comfortable skirts, and these ones are truly comfortable Ü

The gift of comfort

KC was sweet enough to give me a quilted eye mask for sleeping. I feel like Audrey Hepburn in breakfast at tiffany’s. aaahhh. Lovely.

Benj was really sweet to pick out a local book of real local love stories. I cannot wait to read it.

And mel gave me GASP! Chicklit! About a girl named sophie. OMG. Happy happy happy.

The gift of sentiment

My lawyer friends, who have come to call me queen bee (don’t ask why) have given me a key chain of a girl with a crown on her head. It makes me wish I had a house so I could have actual keys to use on the chain. So cute.

My friend Rosanne gave us all a black and white photo of the Chinese mafia on precious pearl’s birthday. It was really touching. And really nice to see how weve grown over the past 2 years. (kain kasi ng kain hahahaha)

Lovely gifts. Really lovely. Am just giddy at everything I got.

christmas in character

who do you want to be this Christmas? this entire coming year even? i was reading essays of people who inspired others and i came across this one. of course, such an ironic image inspires different reactions from everyone, but what the heck? life is short. let us be who we want to be!

-----------------------------
(an essay taken from msn's who inspires you page)

Spring in Minnesota is often gray and full of slush, and that was how my mind and heart felt at that moment. I was swamped in midterm papers and cursing the cold that lingered at the tail end of winter. Anyone who might have seen me trudging the few blocks home from the university library probably grimaced at my sulking, sour face. "College students!" they might have said. "Always complaining!"

As I neared the last crosswalk before my block, I looked up from the cracks in the sidewalk. Cars were stopping … waiting … then slowly moving forward. But just a few seconds later, a bright red sports car came zipping up to the stop sign in front of me. I looked, froze completely in mid-stride, and squinted again at the car.

In the driver's seat, reclined back and grinning radiantly, was a nun!

She rolled up the sleeves of her habit, shifted gears, and cruised away down the road. I stepped forward into the crosswalk, following the blaze of red with my eyes as long as I could. It was only after I crossed the street that I realized I was laughing out loud.

That's who I want to be! A nun in a sports car. Someone so brilliantly off-kilter, so hilariously unexpected, that those around me can't help but find themselves waking up from their half-asleep lives. Whether I am sketching cartoons on restaurant napkins, line dancing on a street corner, or singing in the grocery store, I want to be the spark and the flare of joy in someone else's day—friend or stranger.

Yes—I'm going to be the finest joy maker in the state. Bar nun!
